Lessons from SXSW: 8 Things I’ve Learned About Dating Rockstars
I wrote a thing!  For a thing!
I read the How About We blog religiously (IT’S SO GOOD), so you can imagine how excited I was when they reached out to me asking if I would write for them.  OMG REALLY?  Is it because I’m funny? Is it because I love going on dates? Is it because I have so many sad yet interesting stories about boys on my blog? :-/ womp womp
Anyway, for my first post, I wrote this thing about boys in bands and dating… or something.
Read it.  But don’t read into it too much… (take lesson #7).

This is hilariously accurate.

But let’s be real here. Telling me (and girls like me) to stay away from boys in bands is like telling Superman “Maybe you should stop saving lives for a while.”

youremywayhome asked: what do you do at your internship? what does a "music supervisor" do? :)

a music supervisor is the person who coordinates music for movies and television shows. a supervisor has the job of choosing, getting approved, and fitting in all the music used. very heavy on the licensing and publishing side as well as having an ear for it. the supervisor I work with does the music for Burn Notice and is currently working on 3 indie films.

What I do while I’m there is research on potential artists (publishing, label, etc.), listening to music, cataloging songs, and handling the millions of cds sent to the supervisor. I also hear a lot of “dramatic, emotional, build up” drum sounds and instrumentals all day.

ok, I see a lot of people on here asking questions about anything from A to Z. READ THIS BOOK. there is a section about everything. obviously, you can’t learn everything from a book, but this will help you with a basic understanding of what you need to know to work in the industry. you want to be a manager, a tour manager, work at a label or publishing company or even be a professional merchie? study, do your homework, and know your shit because lets be honest, there are a lot of people trying to make it in this industry and the odds of everyone making it, aren’t good. be prepared and ready to learn.
so, now I will continue learning about what the hell I’m doing at my internship.
